Heritage production processes

remendant xarxes

The concept of cultural heritage, its configuration, conservation and promotion is neither detached from society’s evolution nor the interests of the different segments of society. The fact as to whether or not an element is considered cultural heritage and, how it is subsequently interpreted and presented, to whom it is presented and the general messages to be communicated through it, are unavoidably related to the fact that it is an element that transmits determined values that are of benefit to specific ideological beliefs and interests. Therefore, heritage as an element of identity plays an important role in the legitimisation or delegitimisation of processes of social and national activism. Generally speaking, it is accepted that cultural heritage plays a role in maintaining determined social models or can influence the transformation of society. Therefore, research in heritage production processes is considered of great importance, as these processes lay the groundwork for the development of any action to be taken with regard to cultural heritage.
