PhD in Art History from the University of Barcelona.
He lectured at the Autonomous University of Barcelona between 1972 and 1988. Professor of Medieval Art History at the Autonomous University of Barcelona since 1987 and of Heritage and Museology at the University of Girona since 1997. He has published numerous papers in national and international journals on the subjects of Medieval Art, Cultural Heritage and Museums. He has also participated in courses on Cultural Heritage and Museums in various Spanish universities and national and European Museums. He was the Director-General of Cultural Heritage of the Government of Catalonia from 1988 to 1994, during which time he participated in the elaboration of various legislative regulations. He was the Managing Director of the National Museum of Catalan Art (MNAC) from 1994 to 2005; managing the installation of the museum, from Romanic Art in 1995 to Gothic Art in 1997, up to its complete opening, from the Renaissance to the Avant-gardes of the XX century, in 2004. He has been managing the Official Masters in Heritage Management at local level at the University of Girona since 2006.
