Holds a Diploma of Advanced Studies from the University Jean Monnet, Saint-Etienne (1996) and a PhD in History from the University of Girona (1993).

He was curator and director of the Regional Museum of La Garrotxa, from 1981 to 1982 and 1983 to 1997, respectively. He has been lecturer of Museology at the University of Girona since 1998. He was director of the Institute of Cultural Heritage of the University of Girona from 2002 to 2004. He has published various papers in national and international journals in the area of cultural heritage and archaeology. Director of the 2005-2006 edition of the Masters in Cultural Heritage Management at local level at the University of Girona and co-director of the 2006-2007 edition. He has been director of the Catalan Research Institute of Cultural Heritage since 2006 and member of the Executive Commission of the Board of Museums of Catalonia.
